£10m payday turned down by Batman star Michael

Midweek Sport - - NEWS - By JUSTIN DUNN

ACTOR Michael Keaton snubbed a £10m fee to appear in Batman Forever – because the script was “awful”.

Keaton had previously played the Caped Crusader in 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns, both directed by Tim Burton.

But he handed the reins to Val Kilmer for 1995’s Forever, despite the bumper cash bonus on offer.

The 63-year-old ( above) explained: “It sucked. I guess that pretty much sums it up. Yeah, it just was awful!”

Batman Forever gets a rating of just 5.4 out of 10 on top movie website IMDB.com.

One viewer comments of the Joel Schumacher -directed flop: “What we see in this film is a systematic destruction of absolutely everything that made the first two Batman films so popular.

“This movie still has absolutely no redeeming values.”
