Angela: I thought I was goner

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

WORRIED telly babe Angela Griffin feared that she’d been chucked on the career SCRAPHEAP.

The actress struggled to gain roles after leaving BBC One soap Waterloo Road in 2010.

And Leeds-born thesp Angela ( above), 38, says she’s eternally grateful to ITV bosses for casting her as DS Lizzie Maddox in popular crime drama Lewis.

She said: “I’m so appreciative of this job, and not just because of the lovely locations.

“I spent a year out of work during 2012 and 2013, which knocked my confidence, even though my agent told me it happens to everyone.

“But I’m defined by my work and it was hard – also scary when you’ve got a mortgage and you’re the main breadwinner.

“Then I got the show One Man, Two Guvnors in the West End and now Lewis. I’m so grateful.”

Lewis continues Fridays, ITV, 9pm.
