UK hands £19m aid to Ukraine

BRI­TAIN is pro­vid­ing £19 mil­lion of aid to the Ukraine gov­ern­ment, For­eign Sec­re­tary Philip Ham­mond said as he warned of the risk of it be­com­ing a “frozen con­flict” as at­ten­tion turns else­where.

He stressed the UK was one of the largest con­trib­u­tors to the spe­cial mon­i­tor­ing mis­sion and re­it­er­ated his com­mit­ment to main­tain­ing pres­sure on Rus­sia through sanc­tions to with­draw troops, cease support for sep­a­ratists and re­spect Ukraine’s sovereignty.
