in A DENTIST sexually assaulted a teenage girl and performed an irregular check-up – after asking her to remove her BRA, a court heard.
Mark Russ, 48, allegedly asked the girl to partially strip at his practice before feeling her breasts and kissing her neck.
The girl told police that Russ locked the door in his City Bridge Dental Care’s premises, before taking her down to a dingy basement where he is said to have groped her.
She told police: “It was disgusting. It was horrid. He examined me around my neck. He said, ‘You need to check this out’.
“He kept touching me around my chest. I felt uncomfortable. He said, ‘Take your top off ’ and I took my top off.”
Russ, of Cleeve, Bristol, denies charges of indecent assault and sexual assault, as well as two other sexual assault charges relating to another woman.
Bristol Crown Court was shown a recorded police video interview where the first alleged victim described how Russ had taken her to his new practice for a special viewing. him and asked her about her health.
She told police: “He examined me around my neck. He said ‘you need to check this out’. He kept touching me around my chest. I felt uncomfortable.
“He said, ‘Take your top off ’ and I took my top off.”
She told the jury the dentist then told her: “Stand in front of me so I can make sure you’re all symmetrical.”
The complainant said she removed her top and bra after Russ asked her to.
She continued: “I started to get panicky. He said, ‘ I need you to take your bra off, I need to check everything is correct’.
“I was so frozen and shocked. He kissed me on my back and touched me. I went to shut down. He touched me around my neck and breasts.
“In the end he said, ‘I think you’re fine – you need to put your clothes back on’.”
The complainant said she bottled things up at first before she then reported what happened to the General Dental Council and later the police.
