SEASIDERS CLOSE IN ON CLARK

Midweek Sport - - SPORT -

BLACKPOOL are close to naming Lee Clark as their new manager after a second round of talks with the former Birmingham boss.

The Seasiders sacked Jose Riga on Monday and have moved quickly to bring in Clark as his replacement.

Clark, 42, was only given the boot by Blues just over a week ago, but is keen on a quick return to management.

Blackpool, who are bottom of the Championship, will make an announcement in the next 24 hours which will confirm Clark’s appointment.

Under-fire Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston said: “Clearly we are looking for someone with plenty of Championship experience and someone with good experience of the English transfer market.

“It’s important we find a manager with good contacts as our recruitment hasn’t been as good as it should be.

“We need to make sure there is very little, if any, gap or delay in making an appointment.”
