INJURED KEV GETS LONGER BURNLEY DEAL
BURNLEY defender Kevin Long has signed a new two-year contract with the club – even though he will miss the rest of the season through injury.
Long suffered a knee injury only 20 minutes into his Premier League debut against Newcastle last week.
The Clarets’ medical department confirmed the Irishman had ruptured his cruciate ligament and will be sidelined for around nine months.
Long, 24, joined Burnley from Cork City in 2010 and was sent out on loan spells at Accrington Stanley, Rochdale and Portsmouth.
His current contract had been due to expire in the summer.
Burnley boss Sean Dyche said: “Shane will be looked after, as we do with our players.”
