Aguero vows rapid return to end City striker crisis
SERGIO AGUERO has given Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini a massive boost after stepping up his return to fitness.
The Argentina hitman has been out of action since picking up a knee ligament injury during City’s 1-0 win over Everton at the Etihad in December.
There had been concerns that Aguero could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
However, City’s 19-goal top scorer has confirmed that he has now resumed light training – and it is understood he could return before the end of the month.
“I wanted you to know I’ve already started field work,” Aguero said on Twitter.
“Slowly but surely I’ll be back at the right moment. Thanks for the wishes!”
Aguero is unlikely to feature for the Premier League joint leaders against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
But he could make his return in the Etihad clash against Arsenal on January 18.
