THE final of the world championship
darts on BBC One was a great sporting spectacle where Scott Mitchell overcame favourite Martin “Wolfie” Adams in a thrilling match.
What was confusing was that it was the second world championship darts final in a fortnight, with the great Phil “The Power” Taylor being defeated by underdog Gary Anderson ( above) in the first.
The sport split in the 1990s so there are now two titles, the British Darts Organisation (BDO) and the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), and the players can’t play in both.
Although it means we get to watch two darts world championships, a bit of me gets frustrated – I want to see these guys go up against each other.
I want to see Wolfie Adams take on Phil The Power every year at the world finals.
So come on guys, sort it out – and let’s have one tournament where all the best players can fight it out in one championship.
