GARY JETS OFF TO SPREAD THE WORD
NEW world champion Gary Anderson is being sent on a world tour by darts chiefs.
The Scot is heading off to Japan, Australia and Dubai as the PDC look to cash in on the amazing success of this year’s world championships. More than one million viewers watched Anderson
triumph over Phil Taylor at the Ally Pally. PDC chairman Barry Hearn said: “We have the Tokyo Masters this year, which is a huge event and is financed by very wealthy people who love darts.
“The reason is because it has become a classless sport.”
Anderson and Taylor will meet again in Leeds on February 5 on the first night of the Premier League.
Anderson added: “To now have these opportunities to expand into areas such as the Middle East, the Far East and Australia is one to savour and I’m delighted to play a part.
“I understand there are added responsibilities with being a world champion and there is not one of them which I am not going to enjoy.
“I’ve worked all my life in darts to get to this point and I see it as a privilege to be asked.”
