‘Glitter gave girl chocolate after sex attack’
GARY Glitter gave an Easter egg to a 10-year-old girl he had tried to rape just hours earlier, a court heard.
The former glam rock star is said to have crept into the youngster’s bed and tried to assault her as she slept next to a friend after a dinner party.
The woman told Southwark Crown Court she visited the address a number of times and as well as Glitter had seen the late singer Alvin Stardust in the mansion which featured a “sweet room”, a swimming pool, and “always smelled new”.
Prosecutor John Price asked the woman what she remembered of the last time she went to the home in 1975 and the time of the alleged attack.
She replied: “It was Easter. Before I went he gave me an Easter egg.”
Describing the night of the alleged attack, the woman said: “He put his arms around the top of my body.
“I didn’t like him being there. It felt strange that he would have, it just felt strange to have an adult in bed.
“It hadn’t happened before, and it just felt uncomfortable.”
Glitter is then said to have gone on to try and rape the girl.
Although she confided in her mother and friends, it was more than two decades before she went to police with her claims, after seeing Glitter – real name Paul Gadd – had admitted child porn charges in 1999.
Glitter, 70, of Marylebone, London, denies the attempted rape, and an alternative count of indecent assault.
He also denies six further counts of indecent assault, and two other sexual offences, relating to two other women.
The trial continues.
