Convicted cops stay on force
POLICE will keep their jobs, despite racking up a previous convictions – including kerb crawling and allowing a dog to worry a SHEEP.
West Midlands Police disclosed officers also had criminal records for offences including assault, drink driving, possessing cannabis and speeding.
The charge sheet was released on the force website after a request under the Freedom of Information Act.
A total of 23 out of 7,667 serving officers have been slapped with convictions since being recruited, the force’s Professional Standards Department disclosed.
The kerb crawling officer was allowed to continue serving with his rank reduced after the conviction in 2009.
A Professional Standards Department spokesman said: “These figures show offences committed throughout the service of police officers, so some may date back 30 years.”
