Con­victed cops stay on force

PO­LICE will keep their jobs, de­spite rack­ing up a pre­vi­ous con­vic­tions – in­clud­ing kerb crawl­ing and al­low­ing a dog to worry a SHEEP.

West Mid­lands Po­lice dis­closed of­fi­cers also had crim­i­nal records for of­fences in­clud­ing as­sault, drink driving, pos­sess­ing cannabis and speed­ing.

The charge sheet was re­leased on the force web­site af­ter a re­quest under the Free­dom of In­for­ma­tion Act.

A to­tal of 23 out of 7,667 serv­ing of­fi­cers have been slapped with con­vic­tions since be­ing re­cruited, the force’s Pro­fes­sional Stan­dards De­part­ment dis­closed.

The kerb crawl­ing of­fi­cer was al­lowed to con­tinue serv­ing with his rank re­duced af­ter the con­vic­tion in 2009.

A Pro­fes­sional Stan­dards De­part­ment spokesman said: “These fig­ures show of­fences com­mit­ted through­out the ser­vice of po­lice of­fi­cers, so some may date back 30 years.”
