Cops going ape in hunt for 2 stolen marmosets
TWO monkeys stolen from their owner’s garden are being hunted by police.
The common marmosets were nicked from their enclosure between 4.30pm and 10.50pm on Saturday.
They were stolen shortly after a man went to the house offering to clean the gutters and expressed an interest in buying the animals.
He is described as white, in his late 20s, short, of medium build and with a round face.
One of the monkeys is just 11 weeks old while the other is 12 months old.
The older one is around eight inches tall with distinctive white fur markings on the tips of the ears, while the younger one is just three inches, darker in colour with no white markings.
They were taken from a home in Nairn in the Highlands
People have been warned not to handle the monkeys as the older one may bite.
Appealing for info, a police spokesman said: “The monkeys should be considered as wild animals. The older monkey can and will be aggressive if handled.”
