SLEDGERS TOLD TO GET FLAKED

Midweek Sport - - SPORTS -

SLEDGERS beware: the International Cricket Council will be on your case at next month’s World Cup.

Speaking less than four weeks before the tournament gets under way in Australia and New Zealand, ICC chief executive David Richardson

stressed a strict disciplinary policy against “disrespectful” player behaviour.

He said: “Over the last six months, the amount of sledging and disrespect shown by players to each other was bad.

“Since then we have done a lot of work with our umpires and match referees to ensure they are more pro-active. For the World Cup 2015 it will be no different – the match referees will be making sure that message is delivered loud and clear.”
