Upsets are the magic of the Cup

STRAIGHT TALKING

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

NO-ONE could have predicted Chelsea, Man City and Spurs would all be bounced out of the FA Cup fourth round when they had home advantage?

And in what other country could a club like Bradford, who are lingering in League One, go to the leaders of the Premier League and come back from behind to defeat Jose Mourinho’s superstars?

This doesn’t happen anywhere else. It is the magic of the FA Cup. It brings joy to football fans all over the country and misery to many a Premier League manager!

It was wonderful to see the faces of the Bradford players but even more so their travelling fans who probably set off on their journey thinking they were going to be on the end of a Chelsea rout.

The weekend results now mean that the FA Cup is wide open and it’ll make one of the most exciting latter stages for years.

Roll on the fifth round. I’m guessing there will be further shocks in store, more heroic performances and more red faces.

I can’t wait.
