PAT: WE’RE GUNNING FOR YOU
PATRICK BAMFORD has flashed an FA Cup warning to Arsenal.
Middlesbrough are eyeing a plum last 16 trip to the Emirates after humbling Premier League champions Manchester City 2-0 in round four.
A return to the top flight after a six-year absence remains the main priority for Aitor Karanka’s Championship pace-setters.
But after stunning jet-lagged City, and pushing Liverpool all the way before going out of the Capital One Cup on penalties earlier this season, Bamford insists confidence is sky-high as the Teessiders go in search of a promotion and cup double.
Boro will use the eagerlyawaited fifth-round tie against the Gunners to further gauge their progress.
On-loan Chelsea striker Bamford said: “It’s a massive step-up from the Championship to the Premier League, in terms of pace and tempo.
“But I think we’ve shown that if we get up there, we’re a match for anyone.”
Bamford (left), who is keen to make his move permanent, added: “The confidence in the camp is high right now.
“We only lost on penalties to Liverpool and then we showed what we can do against City.
“Those are the kind of days that you’re in football for.”
