‘Rape’ soldiers appear in court
A JURY was yesterday sworn in on the trial of two Libyan soldiers accused of raping a man in Cambridge while stationed in the UK.
Moktar Ali Saad Mahmoud, 33, and Ibrahim Abogutila, 22, both deny raping and aiding and abetting the rape of a man in his 20s on Christ’s Pieces on October 26.
Prosecutor John Farmer will open their trial at Cambridge Crown Court later today (Wednesday).
The pair were arrested while undergoing training at Bassingbourn Barracks in Cambridgeshire.
The men remain in custody.
