‘Rape’ sol­diers ap­pear in court

A JURY was yes­ter­day sworn in on the trial of two Libyan sol­diers ac­cused of rap­ing a man in Cam­bridge while sta­tioned in the UK.

Mok­tar Ali Saad Mah­moud, 33, and Ibrahim Abogutila, 22, both deny rap­ing and aid­ing and abetting the rape of a man in his 20s on Christ’s Pieces on Oc­to­ber 26.

Pros­e­cu­tor John Farmer will open their trial at Cam­bridge Crown Court later to­day (Wed­nes­day).

The pair were ar­rested while un­der­go­ing train­ing at Bass­ing­bourn Bar­racks in Cam­bridgeshire.

The men re­main in cus­tody.
