NEWCASTLE United launched its new home shirt on Tuesday morning – but it was OUT OF DATE even before it was revealed.

The Puma-made kit, available for pre-order ahead of going on sale on Thursday, is set to be worn by the Magpies in their ‘Survival Sunday’ Premier League showdown with West Ham.

But only hours before its unveiling, sponsor Wonga relaunched itself with a new logo.

With no time for the club to make changes, the shirts will have to carry the old branding.

A spokeswoman for Wonga explained there was not enough time to put the new logo on thousands of kits.

“It was due to the production schedule,” she said.

Fans took to social media to ridicule the embarrassing blunder.

“Only NUFC could launch a new shirt with an outdated sponsor logo on it,” said True Faith podcaster Taylor Payne.

The new kit includes “a hint of blue, matching the scroll under the famous Newcastle United crest” added to the famous black and white stripes, the club said.

But supporters have also been quick to point out that the blue theme matches the colour of the loan company’s logo.
