ARRESTED: Executive Principal Sean Hislop A TOP headmaster has left his job after he was arrested for allegedly having a relationship with a former pupil, now said to be pregnant with his child.
Sean Heslop, 47, was detained on suspicion of abuse of a position of trust and freed on police bail until July 30.
The former student, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is reaching the end of her first year at university and the baby is due in the next few months.
Mr Heslop was suspended from his duties as a super headteacher at Folkestone Academy and Marlowe Academy in Ramsgate, Kent, last month but has since resigned.
A schools spokesman said: “Governors can confirm that Sean Heslop has resigned his position as executive principal of Folkestone and Marlowe Academies, and the schools will continue to be led by their respective head teachers.”
The Cambridge-educated principal, who separated from his wife last year, has not worked since April after the alleged relationship emerged.
A family member claimed at the time he was “the happiest he’s ever been” as he was looking forward to becoming a father this summer.
The former pupil, now 18, became pregnant at the end of last year after leaving school and starting at a London university.
She wrote on social media that she was “in a loving relationship” and had a lot of support, but said some people were quick to judge her as she was a pregnant teenager.
The ex-pupil recounted in a blog how her former headmaster came to visit her at university after she began her degree last September.
Mr Heslop split from his Canadian wife Celine, 44, in the autumn after nine years of marriage and left their £850,000 home in Battersea, south-west London.
