Clocks back, burglaries up
HOUSEHOLDS are being warned by an insurer to beware of a big spike in home burglaries as the clocks go back.
Co-operative Insurance said the number of home and motor insurance claims usually shoots up after the clocks go back by one hour and British summer time (BST) ends. The clocks will go back this Sunday.
Co-op director James Hillon said: “Darker nights lead to an increase in home burglaries, so when the clocks change this coming weekend we are urging people to be more vigilant.”
