School Miss strangled with her bra strap
A TEACHER was allegedly strangled to death with her bra strap by her estranged husband, a court heard.
Rukshana Miah, 35, a primary school Miss in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, died a week after being attacked by husband Abul Kashem Miah at her home in Stockport in August last year.
The attack came minutes after Mrs Miah – who was in the process of separating from her husband – threatened to make a false allegation of rape against the defendant.
The court heard how the mother-of-two had made the threat after the pair had sex, hoping it would make Miah give her back her wedding jewellery worth £20,000.
The jury was told how the 37-year-old then attacked his wife using a bra strap in a “sustained period of strangulation”.
Miah, a former club doorman, also from Stockport, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter, claiming he lost self-control as he tried to stop her crying out.
He denies murder and the trial continues.
