‘Big boy’ had socks stuffed in his pants

A SHOPLIFTER left se­cu­rity guards think­ing he was very pleased to see them when he stuck a load of SOCKS down his un­der­pants.

And when po­lice tweeted about ar­rest­ing the man they wrote, “Hey big boy. Man ar­rested shoplift­ing Mar­ket St yes­ter­day who had stuffed £40 worth socks down his trousers.”

He was nicked af­ter se­cu­rity guards caught the man at a shop in Manch­ester.

Po­lice said they took no fur­ther ac­tion.

A Greater Manch­ester Po­lice spokesman added: “A 27-year-old man was de­tained by se­cu­rity staff af­ter steal­ing £40 worth of socks and con­ceal­ing down trousers.

“Po­lice at­tended. The store will be tak­ing fur­ther ac­tion un­der civil re­cov­ery process. The man was not de­tained.”
