Sex lawyer ‘just after Tory’s cash’
A LAWYER who claims a married Tory MP harassed her at work after they had a onenight stand has been accused of “just looking for cash”.
Solicitor Patronia Campbell claims she was subjected to two-and-a-half years of bullying by Huw Merriman ( above) after a night of drunken sex in June 2011.
She insists she was unfairly discriminated against at Lehman Brothers International, where they worked, after she refused to start an affair with the 42-year-old.
But James Laddie QC, representing the respondents, accused Ms Campbell of going after a “big payout”.
He said she was originally claiming for £500,000, which has been reduced to around £250,000.
Ms Campbell told a hearing at East London Employment Tribunal: “I didn’t want a big pay off, I wanted a package that reflected the bullying and harassment I had suffered.”
She insisted she was following her legal advice by seeking extra money. The hearing continues.
