Glasto No.4 headline gig for Coldplay

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

BRIT rockers Coldplay will be headlining the Sunday night slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The four-piece band announced the gig on social media with a picture of the festival’s famous Pyramid Stage mid-construction and a sign saying “Sunday, June 26”.

It was accompanied with hot air balloon imagery from their new album A Head Full Of Dreams.

Coldplay will be the first band to headline at Worthy Farm in Somerset four times, after appearances in 2002, 2005 and 2011.

It follows their gig at the Super Bowl 50 half-time show when Chris Martin ( above) and his bandmates played a selection of their greatest hits and were also joined on stage by Beyonce and Bruno Mars.

Their latest album has jumped to No.1 in the charts, having been kept off the top spot by fellow Brit Adele’s 25 when it was first released in December.

Glastonbury Festival runs from June 23 – 26.
