Dead body was a sandcastle

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

COPPERS left residents terrified after they mocked up a DEAD BODY on the beach.

Police in Cornwall created an outline of a naked female murder victim on Perranporth Beach.

The team, representing the Devon and Cornwall Police force, won first prize for their impressive sculpture at the Cornwall Beach Games.

But a local councillor hit out at the officers’ figure, which had a spade sticking out of its back, and complained that its ‘large assets’ were sexually stereotyping.

Labour councillor Hanna Toms said: “I think it is in poor taste.

“It may have reminded some people of past experiences.

“This is a coastal community and people will have lost loved ones in the sea.”
