Your dog can spot a bad mood

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

YOUR dog knows when you’re pissed off.

New research has revealed that man’s best friend isn’t as easily fooled as we thought, and pet pooches can actually tell when their owners are angry.

The findings were published in the Animal Cognition journal and suggested dogs are less likely to listen to you if they can sense you are annoyed or upset.

Professor Ross Flom, from Brigham Young University in Utah, said: “We know dogs are sensitive to our emotional cues, but we wanted to know: do they use them?”

They found that gestures combined with positive expressions and words had no greater effect than neutral gestures.

However, dogs reacting to a volunteer who expressed negative emotions such as anger took longer to react to commands.
