WILL YOUNG JOINS STRICTLY
SINGER Will Young is the second celebrity contestant confirmed to compete in Strictly Come Dancing.
The former Pop Idol winner ( right) will face off against ex-shadow chancellor Ed Balls, who was announed on Monday.
Brit Award-winning singer Will said: “As a fan of Strictly for years, I have always imagined myself on the show, but the timing has not been right... until now!
“Music is my passion and the dancing I have done has always been with a microphone in hand. Now there will be no microphone or band, just me, my partner and the dance floor.
“Strictly is a show with fantastic live music and has an ethos of positivity and growth. I practise these two things every day, and I will try my hardest to be the best dancer possible.”
Will, 37, first found fame as the winner of the first Pop Idol in 2002 and has since ventured into acting, starring in movie Mrs Henderson Presents, TV drama The Mirror Crack’d From Side To Side, and on stage in Cabaret, for which he received a nomination for an Olivier award.
Ed Balls has already told Chris Evans on his Radio 2 breakfast show that he is “scared to death” about taking part on the show.
The third contestant will be confirmed today.
