“THAT’S it, I’m not playing!” The most petulant player ever on the tennis circuit (even more so than Superbrat John McEnroe) 26-year-old tennis pro Jeff Tarango – now a regular BBC commentator – spat out his dummy and stomped out of Wimbledon mid-match in 1995 after a disputed ace.
The American claimed he was victimised by umpire Bruno Rebeuh, yelling at him: “You’re the most corrupt official in the game!”
Later, Tarango’s wife Benedicte slapped Rebeuh in the face.
“Jeff couldn’t hit him as he might be thrown out of tennis,” she said.
“Women are emotional,” explained Tarango, who was fined a record £30,000.
