‘Stab­bing’ trial for fell-run­ner

A FOR­MER fell-run­ning cham­pion charged with at­tempted mur­der is set to stand trial next month.

Lau­ren Jeska was not re­quired to en­ter a plea when she ap­peared at Birm­ing­ham Crown Court via video-link from prison yes­ter­day.

Jeska, 41, of Machyn­l­leth, Powys, was charged in March with at­tempt­ing to mur­der 51-year-old Ralph Knibbs at Birm­ing­ham’s Alexan­der Sta­dium.

West Mid­lands Po­lice were called to the sta­dium at about 10.30am on March 22 af­ter re­ports that a man had been stabbed.

Jeska is fur­ther charged with two counts of un­law­ful and ma­li­cious wound­ing with in­tent to in­flict griev­ous bod­ily harm on two other men, and pos­ses­sion of knives.

Her trial is listed for Septem­ber 22.
