Woman dies in stormy harbour
A WOMAN has died and police have resumed the search for a missing pensioner as parts of the UK faced disruption caused by heavy rain and strong winds.
Folkestone and Dungeness coastguard, Dover lifeboat and a helicopter were scrambled at 7am yesterday after receiving reports that the woman was in the water off Folkestone harbour.
But a Kent police spokesman said the 39-year-old woman “sadly passed away despite efforts from emergency services to save her”.
In South Wales, police said the search for Russell Sherwood, 69, of Neath, who went missing yesterday, would continue dependent on weather conditions.
Officers were focusing on the River Ogmore, where a part of his car was found.
