Road is named after legendary dominatrix
PLANS to name a street after a celebrity S&M HOOKER have caused a storm.
Authorities in the city of Hamburg are naming a the thoroughfare after Germany’s most famous dominatrix.
The port – well-known for its St Pauli red light district – is dedicating a new street to Domenica Niehoff, who died in 2009.
A one-time prostitute, Niehoff gained fame in the 80s by campaigning for the rights of sex workers. She also help ed women struggling with drug addiction.
The road in Hamburg’s HONOUR: Famous hooker Niehoff Altona district is one of 10 being named after famous women, a spokesman for the city state of Hamburg said.
Other notables being honoured include German comic actress Helga Feddersen and 17th century Jewish businesswoman Glueckel von Hameln.
But locals say the plan is hardly fitting for the city’s reputation.
One said: “Once you go down this road you run into trouble. What next, dictators?”
