Now it’s the Beer-BC!
THE booze bill at the BBC soared by 24 per cent last year – with cash spent on BEER rocketing by 58 per cent.
In 2015, the annual alcohol bill – paid for by TV licence payers – at the Beeb was £27,640, but last year it shot up to £34,332.
The figures revealed that the BBC spending on beer shot up from £6,110 in 2015 to £9,661 last year.
One veteran BBC worker said he had seen the booze culture ‘come and go’, but that it appeared to be ‘on the up’.
He said: “It used to be champagne all round and then that all came to a crashing end with the champagne ban.
“Most of us were quite happy switching to sparkling wine or beer, although some people did grouse about it.”
