91mph speed gun jammer goes free
A MOTORIST who viewed speed limits as an “inconvenience” has been spared jail despite using a laser jamming device to avoid capture.
Ben Kitto, 41, who was travelling at 91mph at the time, got a suspended prison sentence at York Crown Court after pleading guilty to perverting the course of justice.
Judge Andrew Stubbs said it was only the fundraising father-of-two’s “exceptional character” that prevented from being jailed immediately.
He told Kitto: “For you it appears speed limits were an inconvenience.
Kitto, from Scarborough, was doing at 91mph on the A64 in North Yorkshire on June 30 last year. He slowed down to 53mph after the device in his BMW sounded an alarm as it jammed a police speed gun.
