Sentence adjourned for niqab attacker

THE sentencing of a man who pulled a niqab off a woman in a shopping centre and yelled: “You are in our country now, you stupid f**king Muslim!” has been adjourned.

Peter Scotter, 55 ( of Roker, Sunderland, was due to appear at Newcastle Crown Court after admitting racially aggravated assault by beating and racially aggravated harassment. But the case was adjourned in his absence until May 2. He has recently undergone cancer treatment. Both offences were based on his hostility towards a particular religious group, namely Islam, the court was told.
