Tower victims deserve answers

AS a child I grew up in a London tower block similar to Grenfell Tower, which was destroyed in a horrific blaze last week.

So when I saw the images of the tower burning on Tuesday morning, it really hit home to me.

What started as a small kitchen fire, caused by a faulty fridge, somehow turned into a raging inferno that is believed to have claimed the lives of at least 79 people so far, with the death toll still likely to rise further.

It seems clear since the tragedy happened that serious errors were made by people in positions of power, whether that blame falls with the council who owned the building, those who maintained it, or those involved with its recent multi-million pound MY heart goes out to the victims of the terror attack which happened outside of a mosque in Finsbury Park this week when a white, 47-yearold man from Cardiff mowed down Muslim worshippers after an evening prayer session.

I just can’t get my head around the fact that we live in a world where attacks like these happen so often and I really hope this latest at- refurbishment.

Now that people have had time to come to terms with what happened and the fact that they may never see their loved ones again, people are angry and they deserve answers from the authorities.

The people responsible tack, which clearly targeted Muslims, does for the series of blunders that allowed this heart-breaking tragedy to happen need to be named and shamed.

So many families have had loves ones taken from them in what I’ve seen described as a ‘foreseeable event’, not to mention their homes not spur on copycats who believe that Islam is to blame for previous acts of terror.

While these atrocious acts might be committed in the name of a religious group or someone’s political beliefs, at the end of the day they all have the same outcome – the unnecessary and brutal killing of totally innocent people.

In recent months, HUGE respect to Ant McPartlin for being so open about his admission to a rehab facility, following a battle with drink and prescription drugs.

I think it’s so brave of him not to hide his troubles and speak honestly, rather than lying to the public and trying to keep it out of the newspapers.

I haven’t seen a single negative message since the news broke over the weekend and I think it will really help Ant in his recovery to know that the public, especially Ant & Dec’s fans, are behind him 100 per cent.

I love Ant and Dec, they are national treasures, so I hope Ant takes all the time he needs and gets better soon! ripped from them and all their belongings destroyed.

I know that nothing can ever bring back those who were killed in the fire, but I hope that their families don’t have to wait too long for justice and eventually will be able to find some peace in that. Britain has shown that we are stronger when we unite as one country against these cowardly terrorists, rather than turning on each other, and we need to continue down that path.

Just six months into the year, we’ve already been hit by four attacks on home soil and I really hope there are not more to come – too many innocent lives have been lost already.
