The unnamed victim, from Bedford, suffered two fractures to an eye socket from punches thrown by drunken Liverpudlian Charlie Mulryan.

Mulryan, 33, travelled from Cambridgeshire to Bedford bus station on June 3 to meet the victim.

The couple met at a friend’s home, where he arrived “in a strange manner” and had a bottle of vodka and was asked to leave.

When the victim joined him, he “squared up” to her, swore and punched her to the ground.

At Luton Crown Court he pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He was in breach of an eight-week jail sentence and was caged for three years 10 months.
