Driver charged over fa­tal teen cy­clist col­li­sion

A MAN has been charged with caus­ing the death of a 15-year-old cy­clist by dangerous driv­ing.

Dy­lan Crossey (above) suf­fered se­ri­ous head in­juries in a col­li­sion with a car in Whites­take, near Pre­ston, Lan­cashire.

The teenager was taken from the scene to Royal Pre­ston Hos­pi­tal, where he later died.

David Har­wood, 42, of New Long­ton, Lan­cashire, was charged with caus­ing death by dangerous driv­ing and two of­fences of driv­ing a mo­tor ve­hi­cle dan­ger­ously.

He was bailed to ap­pear at Pre­ston Mag­is­trates’ Court on Au­gust 24.

Fol­low­ing his death, Dy­lan’s fam­ily said he was “a much-loved son and brother who loved noth­ing more than liv­ing life to its fullest” and added he was “grow­ing into a fine young man”.

The keen Pre­ston North End fan was also de­scribed as a tal­ented foot­baller who reg­u­larly turned out for a lo­cal team.
