Man in court for hit ’n’ run cy­clist death

A MAN has ap­peared in court accused of killing a woman on her bike in a sus­pected hit and run.

Gur­parthab Ajay Singh, 26, ap­peared at Manch­ester and Sal­ford Mag­is­trates’ Court accused of three of­fences fol­low­ing the death of Vicky Myres, 24, (above) in Tim­per­ley, Traf­ford, on Sun­day.

Singh is charged with caus­ing death by dan­ger­ous driv­ing, fail­ing to stop after a road col­li­sion and fail­ing to re­port a road col­li­sion.

The de­fen­dant, of Wythen­shawe, Gtr Manch­ester, spoke only to con­firm his name.

Matthew Treece, pros­e­cut­ing, said a charge of caus­ing death by dan­ger­ous driv­ing, which car­ries a max­i­mum sen­tence of 14 years, can only be dealt with at the crown court and asked for the case to be sent there.

Po­lice were called shortly be­fore 7.55am on Sun­day to a re­port of a col­li­sion be­tween a cy­clist and a VW Polo.

Miss Myres, who was cy­cling with her boyfriend’s mother, was taken to hos­pi­tal where she died. SILENT movie le­gend Char­lie Chap­lin had sex with more than 2,000 women.
