TAY­LOR Swift could at last top the UK sin­gles chart with new track Look What You Made Me Do.

The Yank pop star re­leased the sin­gle on Fri­day, and by mid­week it had been down­loaded 20,000 times and streamed a record 2.4 mil­lion times.

The elec­tro-pop track, the lead sin­gle from Swift’s up­com­ing al­bum

Rep­u­ta­tion, also broke Spo­tify records for the most streams in a day on its re­lease, with eight mil­lion plays.

The video, re­leased on Sun­day and which fea­tures the star in kinky bondage kit, has been watched 51 mil­lion times, a YouTube record.

Swift has only peaked at num­ber two in the UK with three pre­vi­ous sin­gles – Love Story, I Knew You Were Trou­ble and Shake It Off.
