Boy, 16, held af­ter knif­ing

A BOY aged 16 has been ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of at­tempted mur­der af­ter a teenager was re­peat­edly stabbed.

The 17-year-old vic­tim was knifed in Swin­ton, Greater Manch­ester, at around 8.50am on Tues­day. He was taken to hospi­tal with mul­ti­ple stab wounds and is in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

Po­lice ar­rested an­other teenager af­ter re­ports that a boy had a blade at a school in Sefton Road, Pendle­bury. He was be­ing ques­tioned in po­lice cus­tody on sus­pi­cion of at­tempted mur­der.

Po­lice are ap­peal­ing for any wit­nesses.

Ch Insp Glenn Jones said: “Sadly a teenager has been stabbed, and it is only for­tu­nate that his in­juries are not con­sid­ered to be life-threat­en­ing.

“We are work­ing with the school and have launched a full in­ves­ti­ga­tion.”
