ENG­LAND CRICKET ACE BEN ‘AS­SAULT’ AR­REST

ENG­LAND cricket star Ben Stokes has been ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of as­sault­ing an­other man on a night out in Bris­tol.

The 26-year-old all-rounder has been axed from to­day’s squad for the lat­est one-dayer against West Indies.

He was cel­e­brat­ing Sun­day’s vic­tory over the tourists with bats­man Alex Hales when the in­ci­dent hap­pened.

Stokes was thrown in a cell overnight but re­leased with­out charge in the morn­ing while in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ued.

A po­lice state­ment said they were called to a dis­or­der in Queens Road, Clifton, at 2.35am on Mon­day.

It went on: “A 27-year-old man was found to have suf­fered fa­cial in­juries and was taken to the Bris­tol Royal In­fir­mary for treat­ment.

“A 26-year-old man was ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of caus­ing ac­tual bod­ily harm and has been re­leased un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.” BUST-UP: Stokes was thrown into po­lice cell
