Ex-Aussie PM: climate change is a good thing

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

CLIMATE change is a good thing because less people die in warm weather, says former Aussie prime minister Tony Abbott.

He made the claim in his speech to the Global Warming Policy foundation in London this week, adding the “so-called settled science of climate change” was “absolute crap”.

Mr Abbott likened climate scientists to the “thought police” at the London conference, which included other climate change sceptics.

He said Aussie efforts to reduce emissions would be futile on a global platform, telling the centre-right Global Warming Policy Forum climate-change policies did more harm than global warming itself.

He said: “Climate change is probably doing good – or at least, more good than harm. Far more people die in cold snaps than in heat waves, so a gradual lift in global temperatures – if it’s accompanied by more prosperity and more capacity to adapt to change – might even be beneficial.”
