Teen in hos­pi­tal af­ter bike crash

A TEENAGER was taken to hos­pi­tal af­ter be­ing knocked off his bike in Birk­dale.

The 14-year-old boy spent the night in hos­pi­tal as a pre­cau­tion fol­low­ing the crash which hap­pened last Tues­day evening (Au­gust 15).

He was not be­lieved to have suf­fered ma­jor injury, but in­stead was be­ing mon­i­tored for potential con­cus­sion.

Ac­cord­ing to Mersey­side Police, the driver of the car, a Ford C-Max, will be in­ter­viewed un­der cau­tion this week.

A police spokesman said: “We were called just before 6pm on Tues­day to a re­port of a collision be­tween a cy­clist and a Ford C-max on the junc­tion of Kew Road and East­bourne Road.

“It was a low speed collision but the cy­clist, a boy aged 14, was taken to hos­pi­tal and kept in overnight as a pre­cau­tion.

“The car stopped to as­sist and the driver is go­ing to be in­ter­viewed un­der cau­tion at a later date.”
