MP: Build bridge at crossing

Midweek Visiter - - St Joseph’s Hospice -

SEFTON Central MP, Bill Esterson has repeated his calls for a bridge to be built at the “notorious” Fisherman’s Path level crossing in Formby.

Mr Esterson has been calling for the crossing to be replaced with a bridge since the sad death of Yasmin Jones and repeated his calls in a letter to the head of Network Rail, Mark Carne.

Bill Esterson said, “This is a popular and well used railway crossing but it’s been clear since the sad death of Yasmin Jones, that a bridge should be built as soon as possible.”

“It is right that the crossing has now re-opened but I have again today called on Network Rail to build a bridge as soon as possible.

“Safety must come first and the fact that Network Rail say this crossing is the most dangerous in the north of England shows that they should be doing more to make sure the bridge is built.”
