Join our transport service driving team

Midweek Visiter - - St Joseph’s Hospice -

COULD you become a member of our patient transport team?

Queenscourt aims to offer care for patients in different ways, at the point in which they need it.

Patients referred to our Queenscourt Connect day services receive an initial assessment enabling us to create a flexible and individual care plan.

This can include a variety of conventional and complementary therapies, social work, ongoing medical and nursing assessments etc.

The patient transport service allows patients, who otherwise would not be able to access these services, to attend.

For many of our patients, the patient transport service is a great assistance.

This transport service is solely manned with a team of volunteers who give up their time to make sure our patients are brought in for their appointments and taken home safely.

Could you become one of the team?

We are looking for volunteer drivers in their own vehicles to help bring patients in from various areas, from Formby, Burscough, Birkdale, Southport, Tarleton, High Park, Crossens and the like.

We are also looking for volunteers who could help drive patients in our ambulance.

Full training on our ambulance would be given.

Mike has been volunteering at Queenscourt for more than 16 years as a volunteer driver and Jim has been volunteering for more than 10 years as a volunteer driver.

They help us every Thursday to bring patients in our ambulance.

We asked Jim and Mike what they enjoy about being a volunteer driver.

They said “It makes us feel useful, we enjoy helping the patients, getting to know them, and giving them the opportunity to leave their homes and access the treatment they deserve to get”.

If you feel that this would be something you might be interested in please contact our volunteer coordinator Katy Pellow for some further information on 01704 544 645 or Katy.Pel

Mike and Jim are both volunteer ambulance drivers
