Zip along to enjoy our fun dog show
WELL, it’s almost upon us. Our Autumn Fun Dog Show is being held on Sunday, September 24!
Everyone one has had a wash and brush so they will all look their best on the day (including the staff)!
We have lots of stalls including Trotters Traders, where you can purchase pets’ toys and leads at massive discounts.
We have Cheeky Chops BBQ with butcher quality burgers and sausages, together with a veggie option.
An ice cream van will also be on site, as will the Candy Store for those of you with a sweet tooth.
We will have garden plants for sale, a jewellery and bric-a-brac stall, and The Pet Patch will be here with a selection of doggy bandanas and ties.
Try your luck on our tombola and hoopla stalls and see if you can pick up a prize in our raffle.
There will be a face painter and glitter tattooist if you want to sparkle.
Throughout the day we will have guided tours of our cattery when you will have the opportunity to meet some of our residents and maybe fall in love with one of them. Our website now has a link to a live “Kitty Cam”, where you can watch our new mum and her kittens as they grow.
We still require some prizes and bottles – anything would be gratefully received for our raffle and tombola, either drop it off here at the centre or our charity shop in Eastbank Street, Southport.
If you were drawn to this column by the breathtaking pictures – let me explain.
Eight of our intrepid staff members and volunteers participated in the Zip Wire Snowdonia Challenge, whizzing down the mountain at speeds in the region of 100mph to fundraise for the centre.
Their bravery was rewarded as they managed to raise more than £1,000 to help our animal centre – so a massive thank you to all who participated and those who kindly sponsored.
Who knows what next year’s challenge might be – white water rafting, bungee jumping, sky diving?
Answers on a postcard please!
Just a reminder that if you are thinking of adopting one of the animals here at the animal centre, please check our website as all our furry friends are listed there.
They are also on Twitter and Facebook, so please have a look and be prepared to fall in love.
Finally I would like to say a huge thank you to all the people who have given dogs and cats homes and give us regular feedback on how their new friends are doing – it is so rewarding when our animals find their forever homes and lovely when they come back to visit us.
It is a privilege to look after our animals and definitely a labour of love, made possible by all your kind donations.
See you on Sunday 24.
Ready for action and, below, some trepidation before taking on the zip wire over the huge quarry, inset
