New LGBT so­cial night

SEFTON’S les­bian, gay, bi­sex­ual and trans­gen­der (LGBT) res­i­dents are be­ing in­vited to a new monthly so­cial and sup­port evening which is be­ing launched later this week.

The first event will take place at the Kind­ful­ness Cof­fee Club at 158 Knowsley Road in Boo­tle from 7pm to 8.30pm this com­ing Thurs­day, Septem­ber 28.

The event is be­ing or­gan­ised by Em­brace, one of a num­ber of equal­i­ties net­works run by com­mu­nity sup­port spe­cial­ists, Sefton CVS.

As well as or­gan­is­ing events and pro­vid­ing sup­port, Em­brace acts as a con­sul­ta­tion mech­a­nism li­ais­ing with de­ci­sion mak­ers in the bor­ough on mat­ters that af­fect the bor­ough’s LGBT res­i­dents.

Or­gan­is­ers of the new event hope that it will at­tract a lot of in­ter­est.

Em­brace co-chair Rach O’Brien com­mented: “All les­bian, gay, bi­sex­ual and trans­gen­der peo­ple who live, work or play in Sefton are wel­come to come along.

“It will be a great op­por­tu­nity to meet new like­minded mem­bers of the LGBT com­mu­nity, and to ac­cess in­for­ma­tion, ad­vice or sup­port on LGBT is­sues.”

Her co-chair, Dr Mike Homfray, added: “The event will also give guests the chance to find out more about what the Em­brace net­work does, and if they wish to get in­volved in its work in the fu­ture.”
