Boo­tle 2 Abbey Hey 0 GOALS from Ryan Cox and Kieran Hali­gan helped Boo­tle re­turn to win­ning ways last Satur­day af­ter­noon.

Af­ter the pre­vi­ous week­end’s dis­ap­point­ing de­feat to Charnock Richard, Joe Do­ran and Phil Stafford’s side re­sponded with a hard-fought three points against the vis­i­tors from Manch­ester.

Af­ter a tight open­ing to the en­counter, hot­shot for­ward Cox put the Bucks ahead mid­way through the first half when he found the bot­tom cor­ner of the Abbey Hey net from the edge of the box.

Six min­utes into the sec­ond half, the Bucks sealed all three points when Hali­gan found the far cor­ner of El­liot Wynne’s goal af­ter un­leash­ing a low drive from the edge of the six-yard box.

Hey’s best chance of the game came five min­utes from time when cen­tre-for­ward Peter Watling broke free but he pulled his shot wide of the far post.

Boo­tle are next in ac­tion this evening when they travel north to Fylde for a clash with strug­gling Squires Gate.
