Laughter on the menu as bar and restaurant hosts comedy night

Midweek Visiter - - News -

THE Firepit restaurant and bar, on West Street, in Southport town centre, is hosting its first comedy night this June.

Brendan Riley will host a great night of entertainment at the venue with The Comedy Pit on Thursday, June 7, with headliners Karen Bayley and Steve Harris.

Karen, who supported Joe Lycett on his 2016 tour, made a name for herself early on in her career, reaching the semi-final of the prestigious BBC New Comedy Awards, before being crowned the winner of the 2001 Komedia New Act.

She followed by becoming the first female winner of the prestigious Comedy Store King Gong award, as well as reaching the finals of both the BBC New Comedy Awards Showcase and Babycham Funny Women.

Delightfully saucy, her friendly and confident stage presence make her a comedic force to be reckoned with.

Steve Harris first leapt on stage back in August, 1998, and within three months had won himself the coveted North West Comedian of the Year Award after just five gigs.

A finalist of the BBC new comedy awards and Channel 4’s So You Think You’re Funny in the same year, Steve went on to headline all of the top UK comedy clubs and venues as far-flung as Hong Kong and Australia.

With support slots with the likes of Johnny Vegas, Peter Kay and Lee Evans, Steve comes highly recommended from the heavyweights of comedy themselves.

Host Brendan’s Liverpudlian accent and lively blend of anecdotes, gags and inspired improvisation bring a refreshing blast of cheerful Northern humour to any gig and make him a sought-after host and headline act.

Tickets are £10 each, doors 7pm, show 8pm, pre show food available from 6.30pm.
