SOUTH­PORT Ro­tary Club com­mu­nity cer­vice mem­bers joined the team of mar­shals to sup­port the South­port Sea­side 10k run on Sun­day, Septem­ber 24.

A huge num­ber of peo­ple of all ages and abil­i­ties joined the run to raise money for charity.

Fundraiser for The Gal­loway So­ci­ety for the Blind Roya Arm­strong had given a talk to the Ro­tary Club of South­port ear­lier in the year.

Club mem­bers wished to sup­port the charity with any of its needs.

They first mar­shalled their Colour Blast run ear­lier in the year, and again were in­vited to join the helpers to mar­shal the 10k run when Gal­loways was a Nat­ter­jack charity part­ner.

● JAN Camp­bell, from the Sefton Vol­un­tary Ser­vices, was a spe­cial guest at a South­port Ro­tary Club meet­ing last month.

Jan has re­cently be­come the North Sefton CVS Lead Officer and it is her role to pro­vide a wide range of sup­port and ser­vices for lo­cal, vol­un­tary, com­mu­nity and faith groups.

Their keynote guest speaker is the Im­me­di­ate Past Pres­i­dent of Ro­tary In­ter­na­tional, Ian Rise­ley.

He and his wife, Juliet, are both from Aus­tralia.

On the Satur­day af­ter­noon, Dis­trict Gov­er­nor Gary Dancer is invit­ing the pub­lic to visit the Show­case event from 2-4pm to learn more about what Ro­tary does.

There will be Shel­terBox and AquaBox and many other char­i­ties and Ro­tary ini­tia­tives to be seen. ● ROATRY clubs across the world are fully com­mit­ted to as­sist­ing to erad­i­cate po­lio, by help­ing peo­ple in In­done­sia and many other coun­tries hit by tsunamis, earth­quakes, vol­canic erup­tions and other nat­u­ral dis­as­ters.

Ro­tary is a world­wide or­gan­i­sa­tion which is heav­ily re­cruit­ing young peo­ple to con­tinue the work it has been do­ing for the last 110 years.

New clubs and ex­ist­ing clubs wish to re­cruit younger peo­ple with mean­ing­ful projects in their com­mu­nity and over­seas.
