George’s suggested upgrade: Although no longer in production, the Vitrains ‘37’ is cheap (especially second-hand) and simple to upgrade with parts from Shawplan and PH Designs. Ben’s suggested upgrade: This model is much improved over the older Poole tooling, with a chassis that has bogies with the correct wheelbase and a highly detailed body. However, the model does sit a little high on its bogies, and those with large radii curves may wish to reduce that gap: simply cut off the bogie side frame and re-glue it slightly higher.
